As we move into November, I’ve been reflecting on how faithful God has been since the moment I said “yes” to missions. Even though my World Race Gap Year doesn’t begin until August 2026, the journey has already begun, and this month has reminded me again and again that God is the One leading me.
Confirmation Through His Word
Back in the summer, when I first began seriously praying about saying yes to missions, I was doing a Bible study at my church. Week after week, I kept hearing the same themes from the other women in the room about following God’s will, trusting Him deeply, and actually listening to what He says.
We spent a lot of time in Philippians 4:4–9, and those verses became a foundation for the peace and clarity I was seeking. They reminded me to rejoice, to lay my anxieties before God, and to let His peace guard my heart. It felt like every discussion, every shared testimony, and every scripture reading was God gently confirming: This is the direction I’m leading you.
Confirmation Through Community
I’ve also seen God move through the people He’s placed in my path, especially my World Race advisor and the interviewer who walked with me through the application process. The things they’ve prayed over me and the encouragement they’ve spoken have been exactly what I needed, often in ways they couldn’t have known. Their support has been such a clear reminder that God equips us through community.
Confirmation Through Courage and Provision
I’ll be honest that fundraising intimidated me at first. Asking people for help doesn’t come easily for me. But God has been surprising me again and again. Not only is fundraising going better than I expected, but He’s also giving me courage to share my story and open up conversations I once would’ve avoided. Every step outside my comfort zone has been met with His faithfulness.
Confirmation Through Unexpected Support
Another unexpected blessing has been how people react when I tell them about the trip. I braced myself for confusion or awkwardness, but instead I’ve been met with excitement, encouragement, and genuine interest. Even people I didn’t know were believers have expressed their support and encouragement. Those moments feel like God whispering, “I’m already preparing the way.”
A Verse That’s Shaping My Heart This Month
One verse that continues to resonate deeply with me is:
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19
This truth has carried me through every moment of doubt and reminded me that God will provide exactly what I need emotionally, spiritually, and practically as I prepare for the journey ahead.
Looking Ahead
All of these confirmations through Scripture, community, provision, and unexpected encouragement have made this month a beautiful reminder of why I said yes in the first place. God is already moving, already shaping my heart, and already aligning each step as I prepare for the months ahead.
Please continue praying for courage, wisdom, and deeper trust as I walk forward. Thank you to everyone who has prayed, encouraged, or supported me so far. Your presence in this journey means more than you know.
I can’t wait to see what God continues to do.

Gabby, I know that this is what God has called you to do. God will do amazing things through you!
Hey Gabrielle! I’ll be on your squad next year. It’s so cool to see how God has been working in you and others even before the trip. I’ll be praying for you girl! Can’t wait to meet you!
